Falkland Island photos, 1978, taken by Fred Strebeigh, on assignment for "A Lonely But Free Life At the Southern Edge of the World," Smithsonian, September 1981

Note from Fred Strebeigh, May 2013:  This photo gallery is a work in progress.  In recent years a few of the many generous Falkland Islanders who were my hosts in 1978 have asked about being able to see some of the photos from those days, so I am trying to post some here, with more likely to come in future.  Anyone may use these photos (copyright is mine), and I'll be pleased if any use of these photos carries some notation like "photo by Fred Strebeigh, 1978."  Also, I've noticed that vertical photographs (the lighthouse, for example) look bad in this gallery but look fine when opened separately.   One other oddity, hard to fix: these images were digitized from slides that had traveled a lot over the years, and some slides have dust flecks that seem impossible to remove--digital editing probably would help, but I haven't had time to do that work.
